Dear friends of Culture,
The children go back to school, work resumes and the Christmas decorations gradually disappear. The shop windows in the surrounding area are advertising their products on sale... Something is coming to an end...
At the same time: The New Year is accelerating its pace, now that here in Spain it has begun with 12 bells and 12 grapes in our mouths. We try to move to its rhythm, still somewhat hesitant and perhaps trembling. The echoes of the Holy Nights still resonate in us and their intervals don't seem to be quite on a par with what awaits us now. We find ourselves in this chaotic turbulence that occurs when the direction of rotational movement in the water changes and has to be endured until a harmonious eddy emerges in the new direction of rotation. At least in my experience, these days represent such a turning point.
Yesterday I watched the sun rise out of the darkness over the Ajaches mountain range and saw how the sun gently and warmly awakened all that was still sleeping in the mist. I also saw it set again later, on the coast of Janubio, Venus shining brighter now where the sun was fading and kissing the sea in deep orange tones. But the waves remained awake, always breathing, day and night. They churned, they bowed, they flowed.
As I became aware of these enormous rhythms that have lasted - and will last - many human lives on earth, in this breathing vitality of the world, I was able to find support in my search for rhythms at the turn of the year.
May you too arrive well in this new year!
