Cultural Programme Week 25

Dear friends of Culture,

Recently, a pair of collared doves took to nesting on the pavement in front of our house. The place they chose for their young was something very special: the bare metal frame of a lamppost, whose shiny head is now powered by LEDs from above. The little dove sits there day and night under the blinding light and incubates its eggs, which can be seen from all angles. She looks down with her small dark and shining eyes a little bit amazed and it seems to me that she regrets having chosen this place, always bright and unprotected ...

Today a young kestrel was perched on the lamppost behind, calling loudly, barely 10 metres away. I wonder if it was keeping an eye on the approaching brood. At least they are safe from cats there.

Kind regards

Mikaela Nowak
